Volunteer at the sanctuary
Four ways to spend a shift in Webster. Some roles put you in the habitats with our keepers; others keep the guest experience running, which funds everything else we do. Both are real animal care.
Where would you rather spend a Saturday?
Pick one to start. Once you're trained and comfortable, most volunteers cross-train into a second area.
Animal Care
The core of the volunteer program. You'll work alongside our keepers on feeding, habitat cleaning, enrichment, and socialization for primates, sloths, otters, birds, tortoises, and more. Physically demanding, outdoors, and the most direct impact you can have on an animal's day.
Good fit if: you want animal experience for a future application, or you simply want to be in the habitats.
Apply for this role →Tour Guide
Lead guests through the sanctuary and tell our animals' stories — where they came from, why they're here, and what the exotic pet trade did to them. You'll be trained on every species on our route and on the safety and welfare rules that govern every interaction.
Good fit if: you're comfortable talking to a group and want to turn visitors into advocates.
Apply for this role →Gift Shop
Run the retail floor during visiting hours — greeting guests, restocking merchandise, handling checkout, and answering the questions people ask on their way out. Every purchase here goes straight back into animal care, so this shift is a funding role as much as a retail one.
Good fit if: you want to help without heavy lifting, or you're earning Bright Futures hours.
Apply for this role →Snack Shop
Keep concessions running for guests during tours and events. Prep, service, restocking, and cleanup. It's a steady, social shift that keeps families comfortable on long Florida afternoons — and it reliably raises money for the animals.
Good fit if: you like a busy counter and a clear task list.
Apply for this role →What to expect on site
We're an open-air sanctuary in central Florida. Come prepared and the day is a pleasure.
Wear your Chase shirt
You'll receive your first t-shirt and handbook on your training day. Closed-toe shoes are required in every on-site role.
Dress for the weather
Most animal care and event work is outdoors. Bring water, sun protection, and expect heat and humidity for much of the year.
Safety protocols come first
Every interaction follows strict welfare and safety guidelines. Animal choice and autonomy always take priority over a photo.
Shifts are scheduled
Once you're trained, you'll be added to the volunteer schedule. Let us know your availability and we'll work around it.
Ready to pick up a shift?
The same volunteer application covers all four on-site roles — just tell us which one interests you. Our team will follow up to schedule your orientation and first shift.
Volunteers must be 16 years old or older. The application fee covers your first Chase t-shirt and handbook.
