Why go Private?
When you book a private session, the entire penguin habitat is reserved for your group only — no other guests in the water, no shared time with the keeper, and no strangers in your photos or videos. Your group gets the colony's full environment to yourselves.
Bringing 2 or 3 people? The entire experience is exclusively yours for $500 total — then just $125 per person after that.

Whichever option you choose, you'll enter the habitat pool and swim alongside our colony of critically endangered African penguins. Your experience begins with a guided introduction on dry land — meet the penguins, learn their individual personalities, and hear about the conservation challenges facing this remarkable species. Then you'll step into the water and join them in their world.
African penguins are naturally curious and full of personality, but they're wild animals with minds of their own. Some will zip right past you, others may investigate your feet or perch nearby — every visit is different and entirely on their terms. That unpredictability is exactly what makes this experience so authentic and unforgettable.

- Must be able to safely navigate steps into and out of the pool
- Must be comfortable in ~4 feet of 75°F salt water
- Water shoes strongly recommended — rocky and sandy surfaces
- Please arrive dressed and ready to enter the water
- Bring your own towel and a change of clothes
- The penguins are wild animals — their behavior is natural and cannot be guaranteed
- Confirmation email sent after booking — no need to print
- Sessions proceed rain or shine — come prepared
- Private sessions: Wednesdays only · 2:00 PM — book early, slots are very limited
Your reservation and support are important to us. As a non-profit sanctuary, we depend on revenue from our Animal Experiences to care for the animals here.
Rescheduling
- Reschedule up to 7 days before your date — 25% rescheduling fee applies
- No rescheduling permitted within 7 days of the experience
Cancellations
- Cancel up to 7 days before your date — 50% cancellation fee applies
- Within 7 days, the full amount becomes a tax-exempt donation
- No-shows forfeit their entire event fee
Late Arrivals
- 30+ minutes late — we may be unable to accommodate you
- Same cancellation policy applies; we'll do our best to reschedule
- Full payment required at booking to hold your reservation
