About the Opportunity

Chase Sanctuary & Wildlife Conservancy is offering a hands-on, mission-driven Tech & Outreach Internship designed for students and recent graduates interested in technology, digital systems, and real-world problem solving within a nonprofit environment.

This is not a passive or observational role — interns take direct ownership of live systems, real data, and active projects that keep the sanctuary running. From managing the digital infrastructure to supporting public-facing outreach campaigns, tech interns make a measurable impact from day one, working at the intersection of IT operations, digital marketing support, and content production.

What Makes This Internship Different

  • Real ownership — interns manage live systems, not simulated projects
  • Immediate impact in a small-team nonprofit environment
  • Cross-functional exposure across IT, e-commerce, content, and data systems
  • Direct collaboration with department leads and the executive team
  • Work that directly supports wildlife conservation and education

Key Responsibilities

Core tech systems

  • Administer and organize Google Drive as the organization's primary file system
  • Manage Google Workspace accounts including inboxes, forwarders, shared access, and naming conventions
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the WordPress website including links, content updates, and analytics
  • Support setup, maintenance, and optimization of the Ecwid e-commerce platform
  • Develop and maintain digital automations using tools such as Zapier, Airtable, and Google Workspace
  • Provide technical troubleshooting for software, hardware, Wi-Fi, and connectivity issues
  • Assist with setup of computers, printers, and basic networking equipment

  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems, procedures, and integrations

  • Ensure accurate data landing and list hygiene across all platforms

Outreach & content support

  • Support the technical execution of outreach campaigns across all digital channels
  • Take photos and videos for campaigns and events
  • Help set up and run livestreams during sanctuary activities
  • Assist with organizing and scheduling content for social media posting
  • Support link tracking, analytics review, and campaign performance reporting

Active Projects This Cycle

The following are real projects currently being executed by tech interns. New interns onboard into this pipeline and take ownership of ongoing or next-phase tasks.

1. Google Drive reorganization

Full reorganization of the sanctuary's Google Drive: cleaning folder structure, consolidating duplicates, eliminating outdated files, and improving discoverability across all departments, in collaboration with outreach, operations, and admin.

2. Continuous streaming project

Research and proposal for a continuous or long-duration live streaming solution for sanctuary animals. BarnOwl cameras have already been evaluated. The intern identifies alternative hardware and software setups, compares cost, reliability, and video quality, and presents a recommendation that integrates with YouTube and/or the sanctuary website.

3. Public phone number scrub

Systematic removal of the sanctuary's phone number from public online directories, replacing it with info@chasesanctuary.org. Platforms include Google Business, Yelp, and the Florida Agritourism Association, plus others discovered during the audit.

4. Website troubleshooting & content updates

Ongoing WordPress maintenance including resolving 404 errors on financial statement pages, uploading and archiving newsletters, managing forwarding and tracking links, and supporting a broader website revamp focused on aesthetics and conversion.

5. Campaign integration support

Technical support for outreach campaigns: ensuring destination pages and tracking links exist, contact capture flows into the correct systems, and all campaign assets are properly archived across WordPress, Ecwid, Harness, WaiverSign, Mailchimp, and analytics tools.

Work Environment & Qualifications

This is a hybrid, self-directed internship: remote work for most tech and administrative tasks, on-site visits twice per week for hands-on technical projects, and two to three check-in meetings per week with the tech lead and team. Professional expectations include strong follow-through and independent execution, clear communication across departments, willingness to learn new tools quickly, and respectful, drama-free collaboration.

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering, UX/UI design, web development, digital media, systems engineering, or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of website platforms such as WordPress, Wix, or Ecwid
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace and cloud-based tools preferred
  • Exposure to automation tools such as Zapier and Airtable is a plus
  • Strong communication, time management, and self-discipline
  • Reliable transportation for required on-site visits
  • Four-month commitment at 20 hours per week
What You Will Gain

What you leave with

  • A portfolio of real projects with measurable outcomes
